"How are blogging and social media affecting the way we think, act, the way organizations work, events are promoted, products are sold, and entrepreneurship happens?"

Trust has been shifting or its axes has, rather than consumer being persuaded by big company names or elaborate commercials to buy their products or use their services, we are turning back in time to the "ask your neighbor" method. Ive seen this phenomenon happening with the people close to me, and wonder if it manifests itself in a larger scale. This works in a very simple way, you ask a person that has been in the situation - that you are wondering of position yourself in - and ask for their opinion, their story. So rather than undergoing the experience first hand, no helmet, we evaluate our experience outcome depending on the experience of others. For this to work properly, you yourself cannot be very different from this other point of reference and you have to in fact believe what they are saying so there is a needed component of trust. For me, that is blogging when it comes to promotions, marketing of products, and even entrepreneurship.

Blogging as marketing/as advertising has a target, this word even my itself suggest some type of agressivity, they set "the target". In blogging ( apply the ask your neighbor method) people don't become targets rather than compatible, this word has even a romantic tone to it. Maybe another reason these method is working is because when reading a blog you quickly distinguish a tone of voice in the writing and makes it much easier to imagine a person talking to you, rather than seeing in a commercial a whole system of people and things to grasp your attention. In my experience blogs make me feel more open, because it doesn't feel forced, it feels suggested as a friend opinion or advice, rather than a media overload of someone telling me what i should want. I rather be compatible than be targeted.- Karla Despradel
